NULIFE’S 5 - Step Solar Decommissioning Project Success
Our 5 Step Solar Decommissioning Project Success starts with you, once you have determined the feasibility to decommission your solar system we can begin.- Step 1: Discovery Call – Let’s schedule a quick call to find out more about your project, its scope, options, expectations, timelines; and what success will ultimately look like for you.
- Step 2: Got Drawings & Photos? – A photo is worth a million words. Having a set of drawings is the surest way of getting an accurate quote. Don’t have a drawings? No worries, we can schedule one of our technicians to conduct a site visit to get a closer look.
- Step 3: Detailed Proposal – This part is on us. We use historical data collected from the numerous decommissioned projects we have completed. We do not price out a solar R&R project with a generic cents per watt model. We input EVERY line item and review EVERY price point, because nobody likes change orders.
- Step 4: Solar Removal – Its game time! We use a 10-man crew to test, verify, palletize and secure your solar components to be ready for transport. Whether the components can be re-purposed for a credit or needs to be recycled, we take care of every step of the project assuring efficiency and safety as a priority.
- Step 5: Project Close out – A well-documented and properly disposed of solar system assures transparency and compliance. Our electricians will properly disconnect and lock-out/tag-out the system for safety purposes; all conduits and penetrations will be weather-proofed. Upon completion, the site is cleared and cleaned.

Full/Partial System Decommissioning
The system is deconstructed, removed, and the roof/land is made ready for redevelopment or returned to its original state, when the solar PV system has reached the end of its useful life. Sometimes the system needs to be decommissioned due to system failure, sometimes due to the expiration of a site lease, and sometimes the end customer just wants the latest and greatest of the technology. In some of the states, it is also now a requirement to include the estimated cost and a plan for decommissioning as part of the initial project application. With that in mind, it is important that project owners put their sustainability hat on and plan what happens at the end of the systems life.
Removal and Reinstallation
Building rooftops have an approximate 25-year warranty. Before a roof can be repaired or replaced, a solar panel system needs to be removed. We specialize in properly inspection documentation, storage and reinstallation of these multimillion dollar assets. Giving our customers the ease of mind that their investments will be properly handled during this construction activity for many more years to come.
Solar Repowering
Solar repowering is a process that involves replacing old (PV) modules, trackers, inverters, transformers, and other technology with new ones. Sometimes it can include the addition of batteries. Every system is different and must be looked at individually unless the makeup is similar to a portfolio of sites.
